Founded in 2018 and based in Hong Kong, Silkyways continuously creates long-term value for our investors, portfolio companies and other stakeholders. Our formula for this success is simple - combine extensive industry experience with close-knit and strategic global partnerships for a unique competitive advantage and keen understanding of market shifts and trends.
Silkyways invests in a wide variety of companies and projects, taking a particular interest in the developing markets of Africa, South America and Asia.
Our core investments have been in the basic materials sector, focusing on businesses working to discover, develop and process raw materials, for example wood and iron.
However, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have begun to expand our sphere of interest to include bio-medical products, particularly medications produced from natural materials. We also work with other companies looking to promote healthy habits and lifestyles, for example organic food development.
At Silkyways, we are proud to cultivate a diverse team with diverse knowledge. With over 50 years of combined experience, our investment team helps uncover fresh business insights and ideate new investment avenues to further expand our clients' portfolios and growth.
In addition to our local Hong Kong team, Silkyways has worked hard to develop a wide network of over 100 global partners that offer a different perspective based on local know-how and relationships. This network includes businesses and organizations, scientific researchers, local experts, accelerators and, of course, investors for whom we cross borders in pursuit of the most lucrative investments.

When considering which companies to add to our portfolio, we tend to choose small to mid-sized companies in the 'early' and 'established' stages of the lifecycle, with the intention of leading them towards further growth and bringing our investors a high ROI.
Our analysts assess each company to determine if they have the potential for a high ROIC, considering factors such as market disruptions, emerging growth markets, changing consumer preferences and other market patterns.
At Silkyways, we look to provide portfolio companies not only with capital, but also with the expertise and experience of our team and partners to help them truly reach their full potential, to the mutual benefit of their stakeholders and ours. In negotiating investment deals, we seek to arrange structured transactions that allow our investors to benefit from any growing value, while protecting them from depreciation.
